4 years!

I can't believe Adia is 4.  The first time I saw this face, I had no clue that in 4 years, I would be watching my tall, long-haired, 1 dimpled, green eyed, dainty girl twirling in high heels and a princess dress.  She warms my heart and calms my spirit.  I am so incredibly thankful for these past 4 years and I simply cannot wait to watch how she grows both physically and inwardly every year after.
Adia Beth, born on December 4, 2010.  Chubby perfection!
Some of my favorite things about my oldest girl:

1. She's very nurturing and caring.  If I am ever upset or Isla is hurt, she is there to comfort.  Today, Isla hit her foot on a coffee table.  I tried soothing Isla and she said, "Mommy, I want Adia."  Adia came to Isla and said, "What's wrong, sweetie?"  Isla cried and said, "I hurt my foot!"  Adia said, "Oh my goodness, I am so sorry about that.  Show me where it hurts."  Isla pointed to her foot and Adia gently picked up her foot, kissed it, rubbed it, and said, "Is that all better, sweetie?"  All of this happened while Isla was going potty on the toilet.  As soon as she saw that Isla was comforted by her, she grabbed some toilet paper for Isla, helped her pull up her pants, and then turned the water on so that Isla could wash her hands.  I'm pretty sure she will be ready to start baby-sitting any time now.
2. She often adds -ed or an -es to the end of words that already have an -ed or -es at the end.  For example, "tastes" is "tasteses," and she often tells us she likes the way Elsa "singeded" the Frozen song.
3. She can wear high heels better than I have ever been able to wear them.  She puts on her high heels each morning as soon as she wakes up and doesn't take them off until it is time for bed that evening.  Poor girl is going to be wearing orthopedic shoes by the time she's 6.

Here are some pics from her party:
She blew out each candle individually.  Such a gentle girl.

This is what the inside of the cake looked like.  I made the cake.  Vanilla cake with white chocolate buttercream.

Cake and cupcakes!

My mom works for a university.  A man she works with creates signs for their campus and he also created these signs for Adia's party totally for free.  So nice of him!

She has worn this dress every day since she opened it at her party.  My brother and his wife got it for her.  She absolutely loves Elsa!

Mommy, Adia, and Daddy :)

My sister in law, Katie brought these adorable little sides.  I loved the Olaf string cheese!

This picture does not do it justice, but we had a sweet little hot chocolate bar.  I made crock pot hot chocolate (which is actually super easy and delicious) and Katie and I wrote quotes from the movie Frozen on the little cardboard sleeves that went on the outside of the disposable coffee cups.  Some of them had sayings like, "Love is an open door!" or, "Some people are worth melting for."

The spread!  Kristoff's meatballs, Grand Pabbie's Gorgonzola bites, sandwiches because "We finish each other's sandwiches" (chicken salad, PB&J cutout like snowflakes, hot ham and cheese, and apple turkey cranberry with honey-mayo), Troll's tossed fruit salad, Sven's carrots and dip, Olaf string cheese, and Olaf's arms (pretzels).

A close up of the cake :)

  1. Time really does fly doesn't it? I can't believe it's been 4 years already. She just keeps getting prettier and I love the gentle look she always has. From what I've read, she's an awesome big sister. Of course she does have awesome parents.
