The top photo is actually an avocado. My growing one is about the size of an avocado this week. From head to bottom, it is getting close to 5 inches and weighes between 3 and 5 ounces. It is likely that the baby can hear us now. I am thrilled that this little one can finally hear it's Daddy's beautiful singing voice. It's really neat too, because it will get used to the sounds it hears in the womb, (the dog barking, the doorbell, etc.) and will be used to those sounds after it is born and it is likely that it will be able to sleep through them. The backbone and back muscles are much stronger now which allows my baby to start straightening his or her head and neck. Baby has eyelashes and eyebrows. If it's anything like Mommy and Daddy, we may need to get the tweezers out for those eyebrows in no time. Ha ha... I cannot believe how much this baby is growing. I love reading up about it's growth and development. Such a fun journey.
Mommy is doing pretty well these days... just growing a lot, (as you can tell from the pictures). Micah and I just returned from a lovely week long trip to Amelia Island, FL with his family for a wedding. We had a great time and I felt pretty good most of the trip. I had a couple of rough times getting dizzy and nauseous, but I did great for most of the trip. I had a pretty emotional day as well one day on vacation. I got waaaay overly sensitive and could not stop crying. You know if I cry over a dropped pickle, then it doesn't take much. I didn't get much sleep on the trip. I have to pee a lot during the night and it becomes pretty annoying. I'm sure it's not going to get any better either, especially since I will be up with an infant in about 5 months all during the night. The most exciting update this week is that I believe I am starting to feel the little tuna moving, (hence the title of the blog today.) After talking to a couple of other pregnant ladies, I've told them the feelings I have been having in my lower belly and they have said that it is probably the baby moving. It feels like a little butterfly is just fluttering around in there and I love it. Sometimes, I can feel it a little more strongly than others. It also seems to happen early in the morning and early evening or if I am sitting or laying for a long time. I can't wait until Micah can feel it moving, but that will probably be a couple weeks longer. I'll update again in about a week or so. Until then, see ya next time!
Feeling the baby move for the first few times is AMAZING! When you are able to feel it on the outside of your belly, it becomes even more real, especially for the dad! Thank you for sharing your pregnancy with us - it's so much fun to read!
ReplyDeleteCute pictures from your beach trip Rachel. I like what you are calling your baby, too! We had a "peanut" (Harrison) and an "alien" (Halle). Take care!
